Yes, you can earn money while just doing activities in social media.

Let's find out and choose what is suitable for you. Let's begin with, what is a Social Media Manager? And its difference between Engager and Marketer?

Social Media Engager is basically engaging, replying to direct messages (DM), replying to comment sor tweets and other queries. You are mostly engaging with your fans, to the one who comments, share and like the posts. You will then reply to their comments and responds to queries. Basically you are just engaging with them.

While the Social Media Manager is like the next level of Social Media Engager. Being a Social Media Manager consist lots of task like creating and scheduling of contents. Meaning you will be the one to to the caption, make the graphics, you will the one to make video upon request of client, you will also be the one in charge in engaging. Including responding in DMs, comments and providing Analytic Reports. Those are some of the things that a Social Media Manager does, but there's many more. This is just an overall difference between Manager, Engager and Marketer.

Social Media Marketer is the level up version of Social Media Manager. It's role is to make sales and push products or services or events. Purpose of Marketer is to sell something. There should be conversion. The Manager is for the brand awareness only, so that we'll know that Manager is really not selling. There's no conversion and Manager's focus is not to convert, but really only for brand awareness. Unlike the Marketer which is really focused in selling, to convert and to have sales. Usual work of Social Media Marketer is they handle Facebook Ads and reach the influencer. They also handles Instagram Ads, all ways to market, to have sales. That is their purpose.

Small businesses since they are not really a big business, mostly hire only one person. When you were hired by them, most probably you will be the Engager, Manager and Marketer at the same time. While big businesses or big entrepreneurs they can hire different people. Different Engager, Manager and Marketer. Still depends on the client that will hire you. But usually for small business you'll encounter that you will be doing all those roles.

But that's a good training ground for you. You'll have the opportunity also to grow and learn if you will start from a client like that. So even if you are just a beginner you should really know Facebook Ads, Facebook Chat bot. It is really not necessary, but you should really know the basics only that they do as Social Media Manager.

What is Analytic Reports?

This is basically the numbers or metric that you'll see that shows the growth of of client's Social Media Account.

5 Steps On How to Be A Social Media Manager even if you don't have any experience

1. Identify your target audience and niche.

You should really know what are your target clients, for example you like foods or you like baking and etc. It is much better if you get your first client within your passion or within your hobbies. It will be easier for you to make captions, you can easily create images because you know it within yourself. It is also easier to do engaging posts and graphics if you yourself knows those kind of things and you are really familiar with it. Sample target would be entrepreneurs, small business owners, coaches and we can also target online course creators. If you like sports, you can also target the businesses that sells sports or Coaches in Sports, a basketball coach, or a fitness coach if you also like that kind of things. Maybe you are interested in gyms or yoga. Bottom line is get your target clients within your passion or hobbies so in that way you can create engaging contents. That's the main thing client will hire you to have social media engagements on their accounts. The more you know the niche or you know what they are selling, it is much easier to create an engaging content for that client.

2. Create your own online business presence.

This is about creating your own account that is really for your business page. For Facebook you can create your Facebook page, for Instagram you can create your own business account on Instagram and for LinkedIn also. These are the recommended that you can send to your clients. IG Account, IG Business Page. I am also suggesting that you create separate page for your personal and business accounts. Some of your friends might not want to see the content of your business account. Then you might not want to share with your clients some post about your personal life.

But why do we need these pages? Because if you were the client, you were really request for a sample of those pages. So that they can check with your sample of works. It will be your instant Portfolio. If you are a Social Media Manager it is really not necessary for you to have a website. You just need portfolio to show your clients on what you have done. List of Social media accounts you are being handles. Of course send your profile account since your work is like that, the clients need to feels the reason why you are good at it is because your own social media account is good looking. And that would be your task for your client and they should have also bigger online brand presence.

3. You need to rate your service.

For beginners, you can create a package for your service for $200 per month that you will do a one month content, at least one to two post per day for two or three social media accounts of your client. Or you can adjust your rate based on your own preference. You can also provide or rate your service per hour. Mostly, bidding's for that averages of $5 per hour. But this is still up to you if you want to bid lower or higher than that since you are still starting and that's mostly the common rate for Social Media Management. But the $200 per month is for Test Clients only and it's not the correct rate, it's a lower rate, like a discounted rate. Because mostly, usual rate for only two Social Media Management is at $350 and up for managing two social media accounts only, and with twice or thrice a week of posting. And that's mostly this is the initial rate that you can start from if you don't have any experience. If you already have experience in managing Social Media Accounts then you can bid higher. Just make sure you can show sample of your works creation for the clients to see your worth that you have already handles successful social media accounts.

4. Find your test clients.

Now, by this time you should be finding your clients now since you already know your target clients and your niche that you want. Then you already have online presence, either one of the three. But not necessary all of them, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn. It's up to you to focus on Facebook only or in Instagram only. Then you are done setting with the rate or package you have created. That's already good and you are now ready to search and find your clients.

Test clients can be your family or friends with a small business. you can ask them to manage their Facebook page or Instagram for you to practice your social media skills and they can pay you even a little amount or a discounted rate. But then you'll do that for a full month so that we'll see the Analytics. If it increased or the same of if you like me managing your social media accounts for your business. Then if you are satisfied on how I have managed your accounts, after a month we can increase rates and I will continue managing your accounts. Again, Test clients are the discounted rates clients. The part that you need to test if the content you are creating is really working. If the caption is working and the engagement is really increasing. You will really have a lot of AHA moments (moment of sudden insights or discoveries). You can also get Test Clients on third party platforms, Facebook groups and agencies where you can get Social Media Management projects. After getting your Test Clients, you will already have your AHA moments. It's just like you will find things or tools that you can used for easing your job. Like finding that this tools are easy to use as a scheduler. Then type of post that gets lots of engagements. Then if I share this to different groups I can have more engagements that you can get from the page. Then if I do this things I can have increase the likes of the page. Those things will build flow or system for your Social Media Management. Then it will be easier for you to on board clients and to know the tools the you need to use.

5. Create and perfect your system.

You should create your own system. Meaning since you already knew the flow it would be easier for you to get another client. Get premium clients now since you have learned lot of things from your test clients. Make sure that you'll do the flow perfectly. By this time you knew already the struggles in handling social media accounts of your clients. You should know on how to onboard your clients including to the questions that you'll send to your clients. And of course the things you need to know before starting to manage your client's account. And what are the things that you still need to do. Or the files that client need to provide you prior starting managing the accounts.

Again, creating a system is just simple. System is, what is your flow when on boarding clients? What's your flow in creating one month content? What are the tools you'll use for creating that contents? One of those tools are, Buffer, Co Schedule, Later and Tailwind and many more. Those are just some of the social media contents scheduler that can help you schedule contents. (We'll find and study that tools later.) Now, what are the designs that you need to give to your clients? But for sure, because of Test Clients that you have worked for you will really know that.

And you can now create your system with these five steps that we have studied. You now all the necessary things that your clients need. And if everything is now okay, you may now find premium clients. Then you could get a higher rate or with the correct rate already. A reminder also to make sure to have screenshot the account of your Test Clients before you start managing the account and the weekly progress. You should be seeing the top three most engaging post. And why this post are lots of engagements? What may be the reason? In my observation based on my Facebook pages, the more your post is funnier, the more engagements you can have and the the more it has many shares. Then if it is informative, it has lot of saves. Motivational quotes also has lots of engagements and shares.

Hope everything is clear. The difference between Social Media Engager, Social Media Manager and Social Media Marketer.
And hope this 5 steps can help and guide you on finding your niche and start your career as online freelancer.
